Seal the Deal: Protect Children’s Teeth with Dental Sealants

April 5, 2023

Dental sealants are an effective way to protect your child’s teeth from cavities. Unfortunately, children aged 6-12 without sealants are three times more likely to get cavities on their first molars than children with dental sealants.

Dental sealants are a thin, plastic coating applied to the chewing surface of teeth to prevent bacteria and food particles from getting trapped. Sealants are easy to use and can be done quickly during a routine dental visit and they can last for up to 10 years with proper care.

Sealants are particularly important for children who may not yet have developed good oral hygiene habits. Sealants act as a barrier to prevent cavities from forming in hard-to-reach or neglected areas.

At Springville Dentistry, we treat children of all ages. We can help you determine if dental sealants are right for your child and provide a customized treatment plan to meet their specific needs.
